She thought this might be a nice place to hide away since she really had no friends. Jade sighed heavily as her long black hair got into her face as she kept walking as made it to the rain garden. She knew it hadn't been finished but she really didn't care as she went in and looked around seeing some flowers and some water dripping and she sighed heavily once more. She really had no idea what to do with herself anymore as she just kept going and looked around guessing no one else was around. Which she thought she good since she mainly got into fights with others so she thought it was best if she stayed away from others so she didn't start anything.
She kept going into she found one of the benches and she went over and decided to sit down. She sat down and she then sighed once more as she let her hair get into her face and she hid herself a bit as well. Jade then looked around and then she noticed a couple and she felt herself wanting to curl up and cry but of course she kept herself together because she was that good. But on the inside it was killing her, she hated seeing couples because they just upset her horribly but half the time she kept it to herself and never said anything. She just lowered her head and shut her eyes trying to keep herself together the best she could.
Jade then lifted her head and she noticed they were getting ready to leave. She then ran her fingers through her long black hair and she then looked up and she felt a drop of water on her head and she blinked a couple times. She guessed water must have been dripping and she didn't move or anything, she didn't mind getting wet anyway so it was fine with her. She was actually hoping it was rain but she highly doubt it would because mother nature hated her, instead it was nice and sunny so she sighed once more and lowered her head once more and hid her face with her hair just trying to clear her mind and calm down.

'Shut up, shut up, shut up.'
Sam said this mantra in her head over and over again as she tried to block out the giggling and whispering (is it considered whispering when she can hear every word?) coming from the couple that sat nearby. The senior was laying back on a bench situated inside the rain garden, hoping she could catch a few hours, or at least minutes of sleep before her next class. Another night went by and Sam failed to fall asleep once again. Her body felt heavy when she made her way to this place and just collapsed on the nearest bench. She was about to fall asleep when the loud voices of a couple jerked her back to reality.
With her forearm covering her eyes, she wished that the earth would just swallow up these two noise makers, or let lightning strike them or whatever, so she can rest. To no avail, her prayers were not answered and the lovers continued their exchange of 'everlasting love vows' and other cheesy stuff, not to mention some things that fall under the 'private' category. Just listening to them made Sam sick she could throw up. She closed her eyes tightly and tried once more to keep the voices from entering her ears. Just then, the noise got worse and it was the last straw for Sam. She was really cranky now.
"Jeez, if you're gonna continue that racket, do it somewhere else..." she muttered, it was not that loud, but it was loud enough for the lovebirds to hear. Sure enough, they were jerked out of their romantic bubble and were surprised to see Sam near where they are; it seems that they were unaware of her presence. 'Typical, great.' she thought as she sat up on the bench and watched the blushing couple gather their things to move out of the place. She propped up her arms on the backrest, still watching them with an irritated look until they were out of sight.
'Hmph, finally. Huh?' She felt something drop on the back of her hand and realized it was a drop of water. She looked up and saw the tree branches above her sway in the wind; thinking that dew still rested upon its leaves. It was a beautiful sunny day, but too bright for Sam to handle. She squinted her eyes at the rays of the sun and lowered her gaze once more when she realized she was not alone in the rain garden. She cannot see the person's face, but she was sure it was female. She groaned at the thought that this person might be waiting for someone, maybe her boyfriend or someone special. Another batch of noise makers?
'Terrific, now I'll never get to rest.'

Jade just sat there and she sighed once more, but then she noticed the couple once more. She then rolled her eyes and growled to herself, seeing couples also made her feel a little sick since even though she wanted love with some people it just made her feel sick. Because to her some people didn't deserve it but those two seemed to have find each other, how she didn't know nor did she care but still. She sometimes wished she could be that lucky but sadly she wasn't, she was very unlucky and she just lowered her head even more, her long hair getting into her face even more which she didn't care.
But she knew she wanted something to clear her head and then she thought of something. She then dug into her pocket but she had nothing and she growled once more, she was out of cigarettes. Which made her really nasty if she didn't have any smokes, but she guessed she would just have to get some later. "Great, just great...I have to be out of cigarettes..." Jade then growled a bit more to herself as she leaned back on the bench once more as she shut her eyes once more kind of drifting away a bit as she sat there just trying to clear her head.
But then when she opened up her eyes and looked over it seemed like there was another person. She looked over seeing a figure, she could tell it was a girl but that was about it since she had no idea who the other girl was. Probably someone waiting for a boyfriend or something which she didn't care about. Jade just leaned back once more and shut her eyes again trying to drift off once more because she wanted her bad mood to go away. But since she had no cigarettes she doubt it was going to go away anytime soon which she hated but she lived with it almost everyday.

Deciding that it was best that she would just make the most out of her free time, Sam shifted in her position and leans back against the bench. Her eyes squinted again as the sun beamed down on her. Growling under her breath, she reached into her pocket for her pack of cigarettes. Her hand moved around it and was quite surprised all she can touch there were her keys, two pieces of hard candy and her lighter.
'The heck, hm, I guess I must've finished the other pack earlier. No matter...'
She reached for her bag and shoved her hand in there without a second thought. As she tried to grope for her prize, her mind then fell again to the lovers, much to her suprise. Sam had not really thought about it nor had it even crossed her mind, everywhere she turned it seems that chubby cherub, Cupid, has been busy firing his arrows at people. A lot of kids in her class had been going out and looked as if they were already attached to the hip because of this 'love' thing. Sam had no objections whatsoever in that, she was quite happy they are happy, although when they gush, they really gush. Not to mention it clearly affects other people. Just looking at them would give anyone diabetes, well, almost.
'Sweet, sweet love indeed. Aha!'
Her lips curled into a smirk as she pulled out a fresh new pack from her bag. Ripping off the plastic and shoving it into her bag (she will throw it away later in the nearest bin, she thought), she quickly opened the pack, tapped against it twice to make a couple of sticks rise and pulled out one thin stick with the use of her lips. Sam pulled out her lighter from her pocket, a Zippo Black Ice, flipped it open, flicked at its thumbwheel once and waited for the flame to ignite.
Nothing. She flicked the thumbwheel again, harder this time.
Nothing. She tried again.
Nothing. 'Shit.'
Out of slight irritation, she shook her lighter and judging by its 'silence' and somewhat light weight, she knew it was out of lighter fluid. She fought the urge to throw it away, thinking that she was really unlucky today, but managed to keep her cool. Sam's brow furrowed as she pointed her cigarette stick up and down with the use of her lips, thinking of how to solve this small problem. Just then her head turned towards the girl at the other side of the garden. Thinking, maybe, just maybe, she has a lighter, assuming she smokes. Her cigarette stick needed to be lighted, so she had nothing to lose.
Slinging her bag on her shoulder and pocketing her useless lighter, Sam stood up from the bench and casually walked towards the other female, her stick still perched in between her lips as she moved towards her destination. Finally, she was near the bench where the other female sat, seeing that she had her head bowed low. Sam hopes she was not disturbing her rest or whatever, so she called out to her in a calm voice, "Hey..."
Sam raised her right hand and gestured flicking with her thumb, asking, "Got a light?"

She just sat there, wishing with all her heart that she had a cigarette but no she didn't. Which only put her in even worse mood which meant if anyone was to come by her then they wouldn't have a very good time. Jade sighed heavily as she ran her fingers through her long hair. She noticed the couple had left which she thought was really good as she just sat there, wishing it would rain but sadly it was bright and sunny outside. She growled a bit and nearly gagged since the hated the warm weather and sunny weather but she couldn't do anything about it which was horrible in her opinion.
But she lived with it, wondering if she could find a way to go swimming later since it was hot. But she doubted it and she sighed even more as she looked back over towards the other female. Maybe she wasn't waiting for someone, it actually looked like she was trying to fall asleep but she really had no idea. Jade just yawned since she was a little tired but she stayed awake since she was mainly bored out of anything and of course pissed sine she didn't have any cigarettes. She didn't want to think about it because thinking about it only made her good worse.
Jade just stayed there but then she thought she was hearing footsteps. She then lifted her head and looked up and then noticed the girl had come over to her and she scanned her and she thought this girl was cute. Then hearing her ask if she had a light, she sighed and nodded "yea I do.." she then pulled out her lighter and handed it over but then she wondered something else. She looked back to the girl and sighed once more "you got another one of those?" She was referring to the cigarette because she really wanted one since it was driving her nuts.

Sam smirked when she heard the other girl say she had a lighter. Her cigarette twitched between her lips as she reached out to take it from her. Right now, she did not feel that irritated anymore; a smoke was a good answer to her bad mood. She raised the lighter near the tip of her cigarette while covering it a little with her other hand, flicked it once and soon, a welcome flame lit up from the lighter. Taking a few puffs, she had the stick smoking in no time. She took one long drag from her cigarette, held it in for a few seconds and slowly blew it out in a small gray cloud.
The nicotine felt good in her lungs. The burning scent of the smoke almost smelled divine after Sam took a few more drags on her cigarette. Slowly but surely, her mood went from irritated to glad then calm. Having a smoke was enough to make the storm inside her pass. The corners of her mouth turned up into a small content smile. 'That felt so good...'
"You got another one of those?"
Turning back her attention to the girl, she gave a nod and answered as she fished for her pack in her pocket, "Yeah, I got a fresh pack here." That was the time Sam took a glance at the girl: long black hair, chocolate brown eyes, fair skin. 'Not bad. She's alright on the outside.', Sam thought. Taking it out of her pocket, she held it out for the girl to take, along with the borrowed lighter. One good turn deserves another, after all. Sam owes this girl a lot, for just a simple lighter, her mood was elated even for a bit. Out of generosity and gratitude, she added to her last sentence, "You can have as many as you want, I've got lots of it. Thanks for the lighter, by the way, uh..."
Sam paused at her last sentence, reminded that she does not know the girl's name. After all, she just approached her out of the blue because of the need to light her cigarette. She thought it would at least be proper, not to mention polite, to know the person you owed something to.

She just sat there as she watched the girl take her lighter and she sighed once more. She wished that could have been her smoking a cigarette too but not she was out of them. Jade sighed as she looked away and she sighed, she couldn't watch because to her it was very painful since she wanted one but didn't have any. She ran her fingers through her long black hair and she then looked up seeing that the girl was enjoying the cigarette and it was making her mood worse because she wanted one so badly but she was far away from them or so she thought guessing maybe the girl was smoking her last one.
She sighed once more but then when she looked up again hearing the girl say thanks she nodded. She smiled weakly and it was a bit fake but she was doing her best to hide her annoyance. "Your welcome, I never leave without it whether I have cigarettes or not" Jade then looked up again and hearing she had a fresh pack her face brightened which she thought was a good sign. "Really? Then can I bum one off you?" She really needed it because if she didn't then something bad would most likely happen and she didn't want that or a fight would break loose.
She was relieved to be able to get one because it was turn her mood around in a hurry. Jade just waited until she was able to get it but then hearing the girl studdering since she didn't know her name, she smirked a bit "I'm Jade by the way" that was also the thing she forgot, not that anyone in her family taught her what manners were, nor did she care at this point. To her she didn't really have a family so it didn't matter, she just looked back to the girl to see if she was going to get a cigarette and see if the girl would tell her, her own name since she told her, hers.

Nodding to tell she was serious and willing to give, Sam held out her pack out more towards the girl. She did not mind if she took two, three or even beat her to consume the whole pack, after all, she did say she had a lot. She was always stocked with these sticks and would never be caught without them. For sure, she still has a pack in her bag somewhere. Besides, she was feeling generous this day, despite of her earlier bad mood.
She took a few more drags on her stick as she merely watched the girl take one for herself. As soon as she blinked, she heard her say, "I'm Jade, by the way." So now Sam knew her name. Decent name for a decent girl, a gemstone, if she remembered correctly. She also handed back Jade's lighter, knowing she will need it. The cigarette between her lips bobbed a little as she gave Jade a small smile, saying, "Well then, I'll say it again, thanks for the lighter, Jade." At least now she thanked her formally and directly, which gave her relief. She then added as she ran a hand through her own short hair, "That simple gesture of sharing surely took the bad mood away."
True, every word in that last sentence was real. If she did not have a chance to smoke, maybe her low mood would have continued until now, maybe until the next class starts. Sam admitted to herself that she would prefer she was always in a light mood, maybe not that happy, but at least being okay is fine. It made her life easier, quieter and less complicated. A bad mood would have resulted in more things. Too troublesome for someone like Sam.
She then remembered, now she that knew Jade's name, she thought that it is only normal she introduced herself too. What could a simple introduction do anyway? She held out a hand, unconsciously, and declared, "Anyway, I'm Samantha, but Sam would do."

She sat there but then when she noticed the girl hand her the pack of cigarettes her smiled brightened. Jade then gently took it and then took one, she was tempted to take two but she decided not to sine she didn't know if the girl would get pissed or not. Since she was going to be getting her cigarette she was going to be in a better mood so she didn't want that ruined by anything or get into a fight. So she took the cigarette then shut her eyes, even though it wasn't lit she still felt better having it in her mouth. Knowing it was going to be lit soon once the girl have her back her lighter that is.
Jade then looked up and then noticed the grl giving her back her lighter and she took it. Then she flicked it and brought it to her lips and when the thing was lit she blew it out then let the smoke fill her lungs. When she blew out a gray cloud she sighed with great content and flew much better. "No problem, and yes these things always seem to put me in a better mood" she then took a couple more puffs of her cigarette and she blew out more smoke feeling better and better with each puff she took, feeling like she hadn't had one in years.
She kept taking puffs of her cigarette but then finally hearing the girls name, a half smile appeared on her face. Jade then nodded "nice to meet you" she then ran her fingers through her long black hair. She looked up to the sky and saw a few clouds but they were only white and fluffy clouds, not rain or storm clouds. She sighed heavily wishing it was going to rain because sunny and hot weather are what she absolutely hated and she wanted winter. But sadly that was still four or five months away but for now she was learning to deal with it as she sat there happily smoking.

Sam stood there, letting the smoke waft idly straight up in the air from her stick. She lets out a weary breath as a minute of silence passed between them. She then looked up, squinted her eyes and muttered a 'tsk' when the sunlight almost blinded her eyes. Raising a hand to cover her eyes, Sam stared at the blue sky, her lips now set in a straight line when she saw how nice the day was. Her smoky gray eyes closed for a quick second as realized she was not tired anymore. With the nicotine now introduced into her system, it would be a little hard to fall asleep now.
The cigarette in her mouth twitched a little as she watched the fluffy cotton clouds drift idly high in the air. A pair of birds flew by her line of sight, chirping happily under the light of the sun. Sam knew she will have to deal with the good weather today whether she liked it or not. This kind of weather was okay for her, but it was the sun that was bothering her. She took her cigarette in between her fingers, took a drag at it once more and flicked away the ash on its tip.
Just then her head came back down from the clouds down to earth once more, reminded she was there still standing by Jade. Sam's earlier thoughts soon came back to her and knew she might have intruded the other girl's privacy long enough. The crunch of the earth underneath her shoes was heard as she shifted her weight on one foot to the other. She fixed her bag on her shoulder and said, "Well, I wouldn't want to bother you anymore with my presence since you might be waiting for someone... Maybe it's best I should leave you alone now, if ever that someone turned up this second."

She just stayed there and kept blowing out smoke and she then sighed a bit. She still wished it was cloudy or even raining for that matter but sadly no it was all bright and sunny which nearly made her sick and she hated it. Jade just sighed as she let the cigarette hang from her lips and she then looked back to Sam guessing she hated the sunny day as much as she did. But she had to survive the best she could even though with her it was easier said then done. Plus she came to notice that if she let she sun hit her especially if in the face, it gave her a headache after a while which she didn't enjoy too much.
Jade then took another drag of her cigarette before taking out and now keeping it between her fingers. She then flicked it to get off the excess ash and then she took another drag from it and then she looked out into the distance. "I wish it wasn't so sunny today..." she muttered slightly and she sighed once more as she took another drag from the cigarette, noticing it was getting low and she would be done with it soon which was kind of depressing. But she kept going on it, trying to make it last for as long as she could even though she thought it wasn't work all too well but she still tried.
She looked down, looking at the ground, for some odd reason even though she had someone to talk to right now, her loneliness was kicking it. She wasn't really sure why, but then she looked up when Same spoke and she sighed once more "pfft...I wish I had someone to wait for...no...I just came here to kind of just calm myself." She would never have anyone to wait for, he knew that all too well so she just was kind of giving up on that. Jade then ran her fingers through her hair and then took a long and hard drag off her cigarette then blew out a giant cloud of smoke.
