Expresso…was not a bad choice of coffee but not her favorite. The cup that the mix was in was about half empty or in a way half full. He placed the powder and the water into the machine like he’s done it a lot. The same thing; over and over. He plugged it in to the wall and the red light turned on. The coffee will be done in a few minutes. He walked into the living room after that and lied down on the couch. He looked funny the way he squirmed to get his head on the throw pillow. It almost made Dakota laugh because she remembers doing that on couches when she was little.
She slowly walked over to him. Dakota watched him get comfortable on the couch. He finally closed his eyes as if he were to fall asleep. He kind of looks cute just lying there... All peaceful. She was few steps away from being at the couch. When she was at the couch she kneeled down and sat on her knees and put her arm up on the arm on the couch right by his head. She slowly grabbed a lock of his hair and started playing with it. He kind of cringed when she started playing with his hair but slowly the cringe went away. It’s like she shocked him but he didn’t look like he was mad or anything.So...soft. She played with his hair gently to make sure it didn’t hurt him. She hoped this wasn’t embarrassing for him but she surely was having a decent time at his house. I wonder if he ever plays with his hair? It’s so soft, I don’t see why not.
After awhile she decided he was most likely asleep so she went to explore. TOO THE BASEMENT! Quietly she walked down the steps to the basement and the first thing she saw was the washer and dryer. Nice, now she can see if her clothes are done. She took her clothes from the dryer and found a room in the basement and changed her clothes. She walked up the stairs again to Mrs.Morbeck’s room and folder the clothes she used and put them on her bed. After that she walked down the stairs to see if Alphonse has woken up. He wasn’t woken up so she decided to wake him up so they could have their expresso. "Alphonse, A-l-p-h-o-n-s-e… Wake up. Wake up dude! DUDE THE COFFEE SHOULD BE DONE! Do you not want your coffee?" At that point she was shaking him and he finally woke up.

After nearly drifting off to sleep, Alphonse heard someone breathing next to him. Dakota. What was she doing? She was twirling his hair, and touching it. It was fucking weird. Could she not find anything else to do but bother him like a three year old might? Why couldn't she act her own age? Of course, he didn't really feel like pointing it out, because he didn't feel like embarrassing her for pointing it out. It would lead to unnecessary tears, and other stuff that girls did. Why couldn't girls be as simple as guys? Sometimes simplicity could be an attractive trait. Like not be trapped in a confusing love triangle like that one chick in, Moonlight was it? Or whatever it was called.
At one point, he was beginning to become annoyed, and cringed a little. After another minute or so of his hair being twirled, apparently she had left to go do something. Alphonse didn't care. As long as she didn't set anything on fire or make anything explode. He was nearly asleep now. Hopefully he'd get a decent nap, since he had to work at six, and that his mother would probably come home at a decent hour to see how the pickup went. Why is it that whenever she comes home at a decent hour, something is wrong or is about to change. Like when she had been promoted, and told him they were moving, etc.
Moving to the back of the couch, Alphonse buried his face in the throw pillow, hoping he'd fall asleep. And, he did. Like he used to when he was little, his arms ended up on his head, and his knees close to his chest. It used to get really cold in their old house. Not wanting to get up and get a blanket, Alphonse ignored him being slightly cold and drifted off to sleep. It was nice to have a minute of peace and quiet. And that was pretty much all he got, because about a minute into his actual nap, Dakota yelled. To Alphonse, it seemed to be as loud as she could too. If it had been anyone else, he would of probably tried to strangle them. Thanks to her, he was probably even more tired than before.
Falling off the couch in surprise, Alphonse jumped to his feet, and blurted out, "WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT?" He was partially surprised, and now, just plain annoyed. It was like having a little sister. A little sister he barely knew, and one who barely knew anything about. So, more like a new young step-sister. Damn, he was going to get it now. Once his mother heard about this.. She'd make Mussolini's hanging look like nothing. He could already imagine it now. I gave you ONE, SIMPLE TASK. AND WHAT? YOU WERE LATE, AND SKIPPED? NOT TO MENTION BRINGING HER HOME, WITHOUT TELLING ME? AND YOU SWORE AT HER? Alphonse put his nail-painted hand on his face, and it slowly slid down. He was going to get it now.

Alphonse fell off the couch. Again *Not gracefully*. She really didn’t expect any boys to be graceful but she doesn’t think other boys are as bad as him. When he fell he squirmed like a snake that got bothered while it was doing something important. WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT?” He was mad when he said that. Really mad; almost like if he had the chance he would bite her head off. That wouldn’t be good if he bit her head off... She felt bad for making him that mad but she did have a good reason- coffee.
Dakota smiled and giggled at Alphonse which gave him somewhat of a surprised look on his face. “Good afternoon Sleeping Beauty. Coffee’s far done. Come get it while it’s hot or I’ll give your part of the coffee to the sink.” She was surprised how angry he was at her. That’s a new thing to add to his list of traits- He has a temper. Ok that’s one thing that’s good to know. Knowing that it really mad her think that he was a Loner . That’s what he is now in her book. A loner. He just glared at her like he was so mad at her for waking him up. Falling off the couch, must have hurt. It seemed like his back hurt earlier but now it seems a little worse than hurt. More like in pain.
Alphonse got up from the floor and she followed him in to the kitchen. She watched him get out the cups and made a mental note on where the cups were. She unplugged the coffee machine and took her cup and he poured their cups almost to the rim. We walked over to the table and sat down. They drank their coffee for a few minutes; it was kind of an awkward silence so she decided to say something. “Sorry about that. I just wanted you awake and shaking you wasn’t enough. You are very interesting person. Did I scare you when I yelled at you? Sorry if I did… I noticed earlier that there are three chairs here and only two of them at the table. Why is that?”

When he had said that, Alphonse bit his lip, feeling bad for what he had said. If he could, he'd take it back. At least she seemed to be alright with it. In fact, it hadn't seemed to phased her that a guy she barely knew had used the worst of all the swear words, and practically screamed at her. Why wasn't she more upset? And why was she laughing? Alphonse would never understand women. Of course, not that he would ever have to either. If he ever did, he could guarantee that he had done something that took most men their entire lives to figure out. So overly-complicated creatures. And half of the time, he was mistaken for one.
He wasn't that girly, was he? Yes, the long hair was mostly the reason.. In fact, when they had first met, Raven had asked him to fix her hair for her. God, they were still teasing him for that. And since then, his horrid petname "Allison" had only become even more popular among the kids in his grade. After heading back into the kitchen, he grabbed out two mugs. One for himself, and the other for Dakota. Handing her one, he poured about two-thirds of the cup full, than pouring his own. Alphonse sipped his coffee quietly, trying his hardest not to make any slurping sounds. Damn, this coffee was hot.
A few minutes went by. It was even more awkward than the drive over here. He has genuinely felt bad for screaming/cussing at her. But in his defense, words and tones were the only things he had to defend himself with at school. But, this wasn't school, was it? Trying to find the words to apologize were harder than he had thought. He actually hadn't apologized to anyone in a long time. Usually he was calm and collected enough to think over what he had to say, if anything. Hopefully Dakota knew that she had surprised him, and that he didn't mean it. But, he didn't expect her to. It wasn't as if she had mind reading abilities.
And maybe that was his problem. Maybe that was the reason why he had always had a hard time making friends. Other than his outside appearance and his social status, Alphonse had always expected people to know what was wrong. And that was his problem. Not that too many friendships had actually gotten that far anyway. Most of them had been scared off, or just ignored him all together, like Dakota would after today. Again, he wouldn't blame her if he ever heard another word from his elder cousin again. She was too nice to end up being tormented because who she was related to/friends with.
“Sorry about that. I just wanted you awake and shaking you wasn’t enough. You are very interesting person. Did I scare you when I yelled at you? Sorry if I did… I noticed earlier that there are three chairs here and only two of them at the table. Why is that?” Dakota's voice had surprised him. Again. Alphonse's eyebrow lifted, and drank the last portion of his coffee. [So that's what she had been thinking about, eh? he thought to himself. I suppose it's logical to be curious. Pouring himself more coffee, he told her. "Oh, it came in a set of three. Mom and I are the only ones who live here, so the third one is extra."
Even Alphonse could see where this conversation would end up going. She was curious about where his father was? Pfft. He didn't even know where his father was. He could be dead, or successful. Wherever he ended up was fine, as long as he would never meet him. All he knew about his father was that he had broken his mother's heart after she found she was pregnant with him. That's all his mother had told him, and really, that's all he ever needed to know.

The coffee was hot. It was hard not to make the funny slurping noises. Dakota could see Alphonse trying not to slurp too. She watched him walk back to the counter where the coffee pot was and he poured himself some more. The black liquid poured out of the pot like he was taking his time to pour it. He came back to the table with his coffee and sat down again and answered her question about the chairs. “Oh, it came in a set of three. Mom and I are the only ones that live here, so the third one is extra.” Oh, that would make sense. His parents were either divorced or don’t live together, maybe his dad it dead. So many things could have happened to him; endless possibilities. She looked down at the table; she thought it was sad that his dad didn’t live with him. It kind of was like how her mom didn’t live with them. For all she knows the rollercoaster may still be at the same park; with kids riding it every day.
“What happened to your dad?” She found this hard to say and could feel somewhat of tears coming up, she never had once thought her and her cousin were alike in that way. “I don’t live with my mom. It’s kind of weird. You’re missing your dad and I’m missing my mom. I didn’t think we were that similar. Don’t you find it sad you don’t have a dad?” After she said that she went into deep thought- maybe that’s why his hair is long, maybe he thought it should be long because he only lives with his mom?
She could tell he really didn’t care much about what she just said. Maybe he doesn’t care about his dad at all. I wonder if he’s ever met him...

Why hadn't he seen this coming? Was he really that blind? Literally, and mentally. Sipping the hot "java", Alphonse watched Dakota try to not slurp, and miserably failing. What was she thinking about anyway? Was she thinking about her family situation? If he was correct, her father was also a doctor. Not sure if they worked at the same clinic. No, he was certain he did not. If he had, Alphonse would of seen him when he was younger. When he had been younger, he would often have to go to the hospital and hang out there until his mother was done with her shift.
The blond teen pushed back his hair, tucking it behind his ear. Alphonse watched his cousin struggling to say something. He'd bet any money that it had more to do with his personal life. Why was she so curious anyways? Alphonse really didn't have anything to hide. He didn't smoke anything or drink. No truly embarrassing secrets.. Sure, he was gay, but who gives a crap? In this world today, no one really cared anymore. Dakota's lips began moving, finally, here came her question.
“What happened to your dad?” Ah. So that was her question. Alphonse looked at her with a blank look. He was a tad surprised that it took her that long to ask. Was she really that afraid of him? Of asking questions? He didn't mind answering, despite the fact that he really didn't know. No one knew. Not even his own mother. Alphonse shrugged. "I dunno. No one does." His tone was casual, as if he was answering a simple question. Was it too casual though? Dakota would probably think he was some cold-hearted kid who didn't really care about anyone or anything but himself.
Distracted, Alphonse almost hadn't heard Dakota “I don’t live with my mom. It’s kind of weird. You’re missing your dad and I’m missing my mom. I didn’t think we were that similar. Don’t you find it sad you don’t have a dad?” After the first sentence, he almost wanted to laugh. Miss him? The bastard had abandoned his mother before he was born. While he "nothinged" him, the blonde teen knew perfectly well that his own mother was still in love with him. All he could do was shake his head. "I don't miss him." He paused to take a sip of his coffee. "I've never even met him."
Taking another sip of his coffee, it was his turn to ask Dakota a question. However, he really didn't feel like asking her deep questions about her past. Alphonse knew it would result in tears and leaning, her giant, "masses of land" touching him. Eww.. It made him want to shiver, and make a disgusted noise. Yeah, there was no way that he would bring that up. He thought of something that wasn't heart wrenching, but deep enough that she could tell him whatever she wanted. "So, how's school?" Alphonse asked. It was a tad awkward, not really knowing how else to put it.

Dakota watched him waiting for her answer. Alphonse shoke his head at first then said “I don’t miss him.”
He paused and took a sip of his coffee then. He continued. “I’ve never even met him.” This was just a sad thing. But maybe it was better he never met his dad. She had known her mom and they had a close relationship, so when she died it was hard for her dad and her. At least he didn’t have to have a hard time like she did. Must have been sad for his mom though. The pain it would have been. Finding out you were pregnant and not having a dad to be there for the child. They both took a few more sips out of their cups of coffee. It was a few minutes until either of them said something. It was silent until she stepped up and said “So, how’s school?” It was such a cheesy line. It sounds like something a adult would ask her. Was he trying to parent her? “School is ok... Most the teachers don’t like me though…How’s school for you? Do you get bullied for your hair?”The hair comment seemed to bug him. She seemed saddened by his comment. Alphonse could relate, since he felt a tad saddened himself by her comment. Tapping his mug, he had no idea what to say. After asking his question, all he could do was want to laugh a little. Even he could see that it was cheesy. Again, he really just didn't want any tears and emotional back stories. That was the last thing Alphonse wanted. Besides, this was his last clean shirt. Turning to look at the clock behind him, Alphonse realized he had about twenty minutes before his clothes would be dry. Thank god. He just hoped that the mud stains had washed out.. That had been one of his favourite shirts and everything. Not to mention his favourite pair of black jeans. They were so comfortable..
“School is ok... Most the teachers don’t like me though." Alphonse nodded. Some of the teachers at school were real piss-ants. They were snooty, annoying and strict. Especially the Junior teachers. Sure, the English teacher and the History teacher were alright. They were still teachers. There was that one teacher who drove him crazy though. The Sex Ed teacher. He was the most obnoxious man Alphonse had ever met. He was convinced that he was "emotionally & romantically in love with Oliver because of his beauty", and tried to set him up with appointments with him and the counselor once a week. Thank god that he had never followed up with it.
"How’s school for you?” was what he heard next. Alphonse's fist clenched up a little. She had no idea what it was like. What it was like to be an outcast. Yes, he had contributed to his own humiliation. He had never really cared what people thought of it. But when you are basically verbally harassed everyday by the same son-of-a-bitch who really seems to have nothing better to do than to constantly tease him and mock everything that made him Alphonse. "Do you get bullied for your hair?” That made him frown. Hell it did. It was one of the biggest things that Oliver enjoyed pointing out. Every. Fucking. Day. It was the very topic which had led to his very wanted nickname of "Allison".
There was one upside to having longhair, other than it kept him warm in the winter. Alphonse could also hide his face, under his long-ish bangs. Sometimes it was helpful, and other times, it made things worse. But, it did seem to make everything a little more dramatic. "I can guarantee that your life is better than mine." He said coolly. School wasn't really his favourite topic. It never had been. If it was academically, it was fine. But if it was about social stuff, you would have better luck getting an answer out of a brick. While Alphonse had never really been the social type, school had never really been that bad until High School.
High School sucked. It always had, and it always will. Even after Alphonse and everyone else have graduated and long gone. The people who say "High School were the Golden Years in my life", will probably end up asking you "would you like fries with that in a few years." He snickered. He hoped that they would end up serving fries or being a cashier at a Gas Station. After spending another moment in his head, Alphonse pushed his chair out, and headed back to the kitchen. Putting his mug in the sink, he put his arms on the sink and looked down at the big, deep gray plastic sink. Looking down, his hair hung loose, next to his face. Why was when people first looked at him, it was his hair?
Pulling his hair back, Alphonse quickly put his blond hair in a ponytail. It was still quite damp and was driving him crazy. Looking at the clock on his phone, it seemed that the dryer would be going off anytime now. In fact, there it was now. While making his way towards the basement, he waved to his cousin, before actually heading down. Grabbing his clothes out of the dryer, Alphonse jogged up the flight of stairs, quickly heading into his room to put it away. He knew he had to put them away now, otherwise they would never make it back. They would forever be on his couch or hidden deep in his closet, like his Bleach shirt. Where had that gone to anyway?
Digging through his closet was like trying to shovel out an abyss, if that makes any sense. Now on his knees, Alphonse kept pushing his glasses back on his nose, so they wouldn't fall off. He should really get them re-sized or something.. They just seemed to be.. big. Behind him, a pile of dark coloured shirts became several piles of shirts. Dang, Alphonse had a lot of shirts. And half of them, he didn't even remember buying.. When was the last time he had cleaned out his closet anyway?

“I can guarantee that your life is better than mine.” It made Dakota wonder what he goes through every day. Being made fun for his long hair maybe? It didn’t make sense on how he could be bullied. Alphonse was nice; a little weird but in all nice. It must be hard to be him; we was frowning before he said that.
She watched him as he walked over to the sink and he put in hair into a ponytail. She watched as he walked down the steps and he waved to her. Dakota walked over to the steps to wait for him when he came back up. Alphonse jogged up the flight of stairs speedily. After that he went to his room so she decided to follow him up to him room. She walked in and saw him digging in him closet. His room was a mess. So many clothes were on the floor. Many dark clothes layer scattered on his floor. “Whatcha looking for in there?” It seemed like he was looking for something specific. At first he didn’t seem to turn around or answer her. He was so into what he was looking for. He had a bunch of clothes in there.
